Rebirth

After what seemed like endless soaking, hours of my life lost to the donning and removal of rain pants, and finally running out of dry shoes to put on in the morning, the deluge has finally stopped. I had the priviledge of having to walk this morning and the sun shone on the sidewalk with its clean glisten of its own amniotic fluid. The air was fresh, cool and gentle entering my nostrils as I briskly walked through the tenderloin, amazed by the lack of the usual surliness. Aphex Twin's IZ-US is on the iPod and I am in my own world of appreciation. I smile as I pass people by. Some people smile back. Some people are smiling all on their own, like the small, middle-aged women who passed me by, looking upwards in her own communion. Yesterday evening when the Giants game got called I was sure the double header today would be far cry from reality, but with the young sun in the sky today I am sure both games will be played, mushy outfield or not. This is the San Francisco I love. It's the one that has had its foul odors purged out of its system for a little while. It is a city that feels ready for anything, and so do I.
